Love doesn’t make the world go round; love is what makes the ride worthwhile. — Elizabeth Browning
The Changelog Podcast
A great quote from episode 552 of the Changelog Podcast featuring Leslie Lamport, a preeminent computer scientist and a mathematician, popular for his thinking in concurrent systems, who won ACM’s Turing Award. His philosophy is that there is not enough thinking, designing, and planning that goes into the software that we write. He created TLA+ to allow for algorithmic design and thinking before building systems.
Leslie said the following:
“If you’re thinking without writing, you only think that you’re thinking.”
What a great reminder that we really need to slow down, take time, and write about what we’re learning in order to help solidify it.
