Salesforce Business Rules Engine (BRE)
Notes on the Salesforce-based automation tool called “Business Rules Engine” or BRE. This tool is often mentioned in similar conversations with OmniStudio, and (I could be wrong on this) I believe it was originally a part of the Vlocity technology that powers the larger OmniStudio umbrella.
BRE used to only be available on industry-specific cloud instances of Salesforce, like Financial Services Cloud or Manufacturing Cloud. However, recently it’s been made available to all Enterprise Edition Salesforce orgs.

Practical Notes
- Expression Sets and other BRE tools don’t handle null values or malformed data types in expected inputs very well
- Bake in time for your implementation for robust error handling, preventative checks, and fallback plans for data that might vary
