Mocktail Recipe: Maple Old Fashioned
Drink recipe from The Mocktail Club
Description
This mocktail draws inspiration from the timeless old-fashioned. Instead of using sugar and dissolving it with water, this version uses maple syrup (or bourbon barrel-aged maple syrup if you have it). Additionally, you may use nonalcoholic bourbon or nonalcoholic whiskey as the base spirit.
Ingredients
Serves 1
- 2oz bourbon or whiskey alternative
- Tested with Ritual Zero-Proof Whiskey
- 1tsp maple syrup
- Or, if you have it, bourbon barrel-aged maple syrup
- 4 dashes alcohol-free aromatic bitters
- 1 orange peel for garnish
Steps
- Place mixing glass in the freezer, allowing it to chill as you gather and prep the ingredients
- When ready, take out mixing glass and combine nonalcoholic spirit, maple syrup, and bitters
- Add large cubes of ice so that the mixing glass is 2/3 full
- Using a bar spoon, stir so that the spoon slowly circles around the glass so that the ice rotates as well. Stir ~30 seconds
- Place a large ice cube in a rocks glass
- Strain the mixture into the rocks glass
- Express orange oil from the orange peel over the drink
- Garnish with orange peel, ideally using a cocktail pick
